George M. "Sonny-Boy, "Shotgun"" Zollars, 80, of Indiana, PA passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011 at his home.The son of Thomas F. and Frances E. (Meighian) Zollars, he was born September 24, 1930 in Newark, NJ.Mr. Zollars worked for 64 years as a master carpenter in construction and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Carpenters. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1488, Blairsville, National Rifle Association and the Black Lick Sportsmen's.He was stationed at Pearl Harbor during World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps.He loved to do competitive shooting and woodworking in his shop.Surviving are his wife, Elva E. (Miller) Zollars whom he married August 7, 1971; three daughters, Sharon A. Moreland and husband, John of Lothian, MD; Shirley Storey of Boca Raton, FL and Nancy McCracken and husband, Carl of Black Lick; seven grandchildren, Ginger Warnick, Denise Marshall, Paula Mathews, Ron Storey, Kelley Lear, Issacc Mobley and Ron Mobley; nine great grandchildren, Michael, Annastasia, Megan, Tyler, Cheyenne, Gennesis, Jacqueline, Olivia and Audrianna; a brother, Lewis Zollars of Jacksonville, FL and a sister, Mary Louise Zollars of Baltimore, MD.He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ron Mobley and three brothers, Edward, William and Patrick Zollars. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut Street, Blairsville, PA. A Prayer service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Timothy Kruthaupt officiating.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PAMilitary services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.
