Louella Marion (Hunter) Kahl, 95, of Blairsville, PA (Strangford) passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at her home.The daughter of Clancey and Mary (Lawry) Hunter, she was born February 8, 1916 in Latrobe, PA.Louella graduated from Derry High School and worked briefly at the Vanadium plant in Latrobe before marrying Joseph W. Kahl on March 25, 1937. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and watching golf and football on television. She was especially proud of her only grandchild, Joe, whom she adored. Her mind was keen and her wise counsel and insight will be missed. Louella was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville and Latrobe Chapter No. 221 Order of the Eastern Star.Surviving are two daughters, Mary Lou Horrell and her husband, Stanley of Blairsville and Barbara K. Culler of Blairsville; a grandson, Joseph A. Culler and a sister, Doris Jean Kisick and her husband, Thomas of Latrobe and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph W. Kahl in 1999; a son-in-law, Kenneth R. Culler in 2004; a brother, Lloyd and a sister, Helen Louise McBroom.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services with Rev. Beverly J. Banyay officiating and interment will be private.
