Donald Clyde Muir, Sr., 86, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.The son of Clyde and Anna (Shank) Muir, he was born January 20, 1925 in Bolivar, PA.Mr. Muir was of the Methodist faith.He was a member of Carpenters Union #2274 and BPOE #406, Blairsville.He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed as a union carpenter for Latrobe Construction.Surviving are a son, Donald C. Muir, Jr. of Blairsville and a daughter Deborah L. Muir of Greensburg; a sister, Alice Doak of Blairsville and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann E. (Bernard) Muir in 2002 and a sister, Olive Hoffman.The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Terry Shaffer officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
