Ira O. "Buzz" McAfoos, 78, of Black Lick, PA passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at his home.The son of Earl D. and Esther E. (Potts) McAfoos, he was born June 30, 1932 in Homer City, PA.Mr. McAfoos worked in the coal industry for 30 years, retiring in 1991 from the Pennsylvania Mines and was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the US Army.He enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren, enjoyed traveling in his motor home when he was younger and fishing and hunting.Surviving are his wife, Betty B. (Davison) McAfoos whom he married August 5, 1955; five children, a son, Larry D. McAfoos of Vanderbilt; four daughters, Barbara J. Warner of Josephine; Sherial A. Dunmire and her husband, Doug of Coldwater, Mississippi; Tammy J. Marsh and her husband, George Jr. of Homer City and Becky S. McAfoos of Black Lick; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a sister, Betty Duffner of Blairsville.He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Amy Gamble and Douglas Dunmire Jr. and a sister, Patricia.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Brett M. Dinger officiating.Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, West Wheatfield Twp., PA.
