Dorothy Janet (McIntire) Horrell, 90, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.The daughter of Harry and Hazel (Nelson) McIntire, she was born November 20, 1921 in Robinson, PA.Dorothy called Robinson, PA home until the time of her marriage to Edgar S. Horrell on May 4, 1946 when she moved to Strangford where she remained until the time of her death. Dorothy epitomized the stay at home Mom. Her life was dedicated to making a comfortable environment for her friends and family. She was very good with animals and would always be accompanied in her daily chores by a small and well trained dog, the latest being Sparky.Surviving are a son, Dennis Horrell of Homer City; a daughter Janet Y. George and husband Ronald I. George of Homer City; a grandson, Matthew Horrell; various nephews and nieces, especially Sherry and several devoted friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar in 1990; a brother, Leonard H. McIntire and a sister, Dolores Harr.The family will receive friends at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA from 6 to 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at which time a memorial of shared stories and prayers will be conducted.Private internment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.Donations should be made to the local Four Footed Friends or to the Humane Society.
