Anthony E. "Tony" Vigliotti (Velot), 91, of Blairsville, PA (Palmerton) pass away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Country Living Personal Care Home, Blairsville, PA.The son of Louis A. and Josephine (Borino) Vigliotti, he was born June 8, 1921 in Cokeville, PA.Tony was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral site; Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407 for 66 years; Legion Home Association of Bolivar; Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club; Knights of Columbus and Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was a member of the Black Lick mixed bowling league and bowled at Ridge Lanes and Mohawk Lanes in Indiana where he bowled a perfect game in 1982. Tony was inducted into the Indiana County Sports Hall of Fame in 1993.He graduated from Derry Township High School in 1941 and was a US Army veteran having served during World War II with Company B, 818th Engineers Aviation Battalion.He worked as a foreman for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 36 years, retiring in 1983.Tony went to the Atlantic Baseball School in Johnstown and actively played baseball for 22 years with the Blairsville Colts, Brenizer, Black Lick and Saltsburg baseball teams. After playing, he umpired baseball for the next 50 years and later he umpired softball games in the Blairsville and Latrobe areas. He loved the Sunday spaghetti dinners with his family, especially with his children and grandchildren, watching the Pirates, Penguins and Steelers and giving vegetables from his garden to his friends. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Josephine M. (Tedeski) Vigliotti whom he married June 21, 1957: a son, Anthony M. Vigliotti and his wife, Sandy of Blairsville; a daughter, Carol Dixon and her husband, Ronald of Blairsville; four grandchildren, Angela Vigliotti, Mark Succheralli Jr., Anthony A. Vigliotti and Gina Vigliotti; three sisters, Jenny Calabrese and Lucy Palumbo, both of Altoona and Josephine Galucci of Johnstown.He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Alphonse, Michael, Andrew and Clemente and two sisters, Alice and Madeline.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral site with Fr. Ronald L. Cyktor, Jr. as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
