Anna Marie (Strini) Grove Mikeska, 87, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.A daughter of Primo and Jennie (Gabella) Strini, she was born August 21, 1924 in Black Lick, PA.Mrs. Mikeska was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral site, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Queen of Mary #1685, Christian Mothers Guild and helped with the church bazaar.She graduated from Homer City High School in 1942 and was employed for 25 years at Seasonal Industries, Indiana, retiring in 1980.Mrs. Mikeska worked on the election board in Black Lick for many years. She loved being with her children and grandchildren, cooking and baking.Surviving are two children, a daughter, Sandra Avalli and her husband, Ed of Blairsville and a son, Thomas A. Grove and his fiance, Sharon of Blairsville; four grandchildren, Terri Horchar, Traci Clawson, Kelli Geary and Thomas L. Grove; nine great grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Kourtney, Noah, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Riley and Josh and a sister, Genevieve Meehan of Homer City.She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Thomas L. Grove in 1969; her second husband, Joseph D. Mikeska in 2011 and two sisters, Leona Kalokoski and Eileen Manning. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A Blessing service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral site, with Fr. Ronald L. Cyktor, Jr. as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
