John Frederick Kuntz, 88, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.A son of Frederick and Grace (Roadman) Kuntz, he was born September 6, 1923 in Derry, PA.Mr. Kuntz was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville.He was a World War II Army veteran and worked as a financial planner.Mr. Kuntz graduated from Derry High School in 1941, attended St. Vincent College and graduated from Indiana State Teachers College (IUP) in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. He received his master's in education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1955.He established the motorcycle summer camp in Blairsville from 1967 to 1978.Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jean L. (Wick) Kuntz whom he married June 15, 1951; two sons, Fred Kuntz and wife, Brenda of Midlothian, TX and Greg Kuntz and wife, Kathy of Blairsville and a daughter, Karen Whitfield of Monument, CO; five grandchildren, Lindsey Lott, Rachel Crane, Ashley Kuntz, Andrew Kuntz and Caleb Kuntz and two sisters, Betty Mackinnon of California and Eleanor Pryce of Blairsville.He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, David Whitfield and a brother, Robert Kuntz.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville, with Pastor Dick Motzing officiating.
