Veronica Josephine (Koreni) Modrey, 94, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Patty Quick, Blairsville, PA.A daughter of Frank and Betty (Beno) Koreni, she was born March 17, 1917 in Blairsville, PA.Mrs. Modrey lived her entire life in Blairsville was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville.Surviving are three children, a son, Ronald J. Modrey and his wife, Donna of Blairsville; two daughters, Mary Covin and her husband, Merle of Derry and Patty Quick and her husband, Ronald of Blairsville with whom she resided; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a special friend and caregiver, Barb WarnerShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John C. Modrey in 1959; a son, Stephen; a daughter, Marcella Nibert; three brothers, Joseph, Frank and Steve Koreni and four sisters, Mary Kovalish, Anna Minarik, Steffie Marton and Josie Williams.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake service will be held at 8:30 P.M. Wednesday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
