Ronald C. "Zip" Zimmerman, 57, of Vintondale, PA formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, PA.A son of Lewis M. and Doris L. (Shaffer) Zimmerman, he was born May 1, 1954 in Latrobe, PA.Mr. Zimmerman was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville.He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports, especially football.He worked at Torrance State Hospital for more than 30 years, before retiring.Surviving are his wife, Jean (Ash) Peterson; two daughters, Meghan Sah of Yemen and Viktoria Fox of British Columbia, Canada; two stepchildren, Donald Muir Jr. of Coal Twp., PA and Stacy Freeman and her fianc, Charles Pistella of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Mohamad Sah, Nooran Sah and Olandis Freeman; a brother, Jeffrey Zimmerman of Blairsville; three sisters, Ruth Ann Zimmerman, Debbie Zimmerman and Brenda Zufall and her husband, John, all of Blairsville.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Beverly J. Banyay officiating.Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
