James Davis, Jr., 84, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his home.The son of Benjamin and Katie (Davis) White, he was born December 17, 1928 in Smithton, PA.Mr. Davis was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean era.Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Elliott Company, Jeannette for 31 years, retiring in 1985 and later was a driver for the Baker Bus Company, Indiana.Surviving are his special companion, Margaret L. Parker of Blairsville; a daughter, Connie Greenwood of Philadelphia; a son, Richard L. Parker, Sr. (Becky) of Jeannette; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; four brothers, William White (Idella) of West Middlesex; Ira White (Ruth) of Blairsville; Bryant White of Blairsville and Vernon White (Sharon) of Glenn Dale, MD and a sister, Susan Marie McDonald of Henrico, VA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents and his wife, Dorothy Davis in 2012. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Russ Whitfield officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Military services will be accorded by Blairsville V.F.W. Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's name to the Second Baptist Church, 241 East Campbell St., Blairsville, PA 15717
