William Elmer Peace, 89, of Saltsburg, PA passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 in the Communities at Indian Haven, Indiana, PA.The son of William H. and Vernie M. (Dunmire) Peace, he was born April 20, 1923 in Tunnelton, PA.Bill was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clarksburg, and was a former member of Blairsville Grange #2012.He was a Navy veteran of World War II.Bill worked for Robinson Funeral Home in Saltsburg and Robinson-Lytle Funeral Home in Indiana for 26 years. He, also, worked for Verizon Telephone Company for a number of years, retiring in 1985. Surviving are three daughters, Luella Smith and her husband, Edwin of Avonmore; Pam Irwin and her husband, Dennis of New Alexandria and Georgienne Cribbs and her husband, John of Saltsburg; four grandchildren, Laura Zendarski, Jackie Cribbs Buterbaugh, William Smith and Susie Cribbs; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, B. LaRue (Matson) Peace on September 14, 2001; five brothers, John, Arthur, Kenneth, Albert and Glenn Peace and four sisters, Hazel Sutton, Evelyn Frick, Beulah Peace and Amber Good.The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 P.M. Monday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Duffalo officiating.Interment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, PA.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clarksburg Road, Clarksburg, PA 15725 or to a charity of one's choice.
