Richard J. Steeves, 73, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.The son of Robert A. and Katie B. (Bracken) Steeves, he was born March 9, 1939 in Nanty Glo, PA.Richard was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War.Surviving are two brothers, Edward Steeves of Black Lick and William Steeves of Derry; four sisters, Catherine E. Hill of Greensburg; Rosella M. Squib of Derry; Viola Trinder (George) of Charleroi and Sylvia Hill (Carl) of Black Lick and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, David and Frederick Steeves and a sister, Ethel Steeves.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
