Erma Mae (Alwine) Troxell Smith, 93, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Scenery Hill Manor, Indiana, PA.A daughter of Edwin and Florence (Shaffer) Alwine, she was born October 2, 1919 in Johnstown, PA.Mrs. Smith was a member of the Strangford United Methodist Church, AARP #552 and a former member of the Blairsville Grange #2012.Prior to her retirement, she worked at Torrance State Hospital for 26 years.Surviving are a son, Edwin E. Troxell of Bath, PA; a daughter. Joanne Rainey of Blairsville; five grandchildren, Lori Leddon, Patty Crawford, Kim Glankler, Jeff Troxell and Greg Troxell; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Marlin Alwine of Johnstown and a very good friend, Al Babyak of Blairsville.She was preceded in death by her parents; three husband, Joseph Troxell, Robert Mullen and Bill Smith and three sisters, Esther Shirey, Ruth Shirey and Edna Maynard.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Brett M. Dinger officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
