Philip Pinkett, 100, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Washington Home and Community Hospice, Washington, D.C.The son of William H. and Levina (Wade) Pinkett, he was born June 17, 1912 at Bailey's Crossroads, VA.Mr. Pinkett was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, Washington, D.C., a life member of the VFW Post #2020, Pittsburgh and a life member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.He was a World Ward II Navy veteran and worked for the Veteran's Administration, Pittsburgh, for 31 years, retiring in 1977.Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis Kay Pinkett of Sykesville, MD; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Kathleen (Johnson) Pinkett in 2000 and a brother, Robert B. Pinkett in 1944.Friends will be received from 1 to 2 P.M. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, Washington, D.C., where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. with the Reverend Caron A. Gwynn officiating.Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, PA on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 3:00 P.M.
