Donald Reid Smith, 82, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA.A son of Sherman E. and Maude (Chadwick) Smith, he was born December 25, 1929 in Lober, PA.Mr. Smith lived most of his life in Blairsville and attended the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville.He owned Don Smith Carpeting, Blairsville, from 1968 to 1984 and worked for Roth Carpet for 25 years, retiring in 2008.He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War.Surviving are a son, Brian R. Smith of Blairsville and a daughter, Renee' Yelenic (Frank) of Latrobe; three grandchildren, Ben Smith, Lindsey Yelenic and Carly Yelenic and a sister, Mary Lee Ward of New Port Richey, FL.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Audrey (Yates) Smith in 2002 and four brothers, Bobby, Roy, Keith and Edward Smith.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. William Simanovich officiating.Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.
