Thomas John Platt, 51, of Latrobe, PA passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012 in Derry Twp., PA.A son of William W. Platt Jr. and Audrey M. (Sutphin) Platt, he was born December 26, 1960 in Latrobe, PA.Tom loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Kingston Sportsmen's Club.He helped with a fishing program at Keystone State Park called a "Special Day" for special kids. Surviving are his wife, Pamela L. (Garris) Platt whom he married October 13, 2001; his mother, Audrey Platt of Blairsville; daughter, Sylvia Marie Platt of Trafford; son, Daniel T. Platt of Belle Vernon; stepdaughter, Charlene Gordish of Whitney; three stepsons, Mark Garris (Grace) of Derry; Charles Garris (Robin) of Latrobe and Alfred Garris (Cindy) of Derry; 10 grandchildren; brother, William A. Platt (Susan) of Blairsville and two sisters, Susan M. Mintmier (Kenneth) of Clyde and Valerie A. Santos (Joe) of New Port News, VA and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father in 2001.The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Dietrich officiating.Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
