Charles R. Lydic, 66, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family.A son of Joseph C. Lydic Sr. and Evelyn (Lance) Lydic of Indiana, he was born November 3, 1946 in Indiana, PA.Chuck graduated from Indiana High School in 1965 and attended Butler County Community College.He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.Chuck was the Burrell Twp. codes enforcement officer and was a retired supervisor of Indiana County Emergency Management. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville. He served as fire chief and president and was a life member of the Cherryhill Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept.,was a director of the Indiana County Fire Academy; founding member of the Evergreen Search and Rescue Team and a Pensylvania State Constable. He was also a member of the Black Lick Volunteer Fire Dept., Derry Rod & Gun Club and Burrell Twp. Rod & Gun Club.Surviving are his loving wife, Janelle (Edmundson) Lydic; his parents of Indiana; a son, C. Aaron Lydic (Debbra) of Penn Run; two daughters, Rhonda Fiechuk (Richard) of Penn Run and Stacy Stumpf (Tom) of Indiana; three stepsons, Cameron Willforth of Derry; Chad Schultz of Blairsville and Chase Schultz of Blairsville and a stepdaughter, Kacie Schultz of Blairsville; six grandchildren, Robert Krouse, Jessica Krouse, Courtney Fiechuk, Collin Fiechuk, Megan Lydic and Brandon Lydic; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Yoemans (Rick) of Shippensburg.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph C. Jr. and William. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday at the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.Interment will be in Coles Cemetery, Derry, PA.Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM will have services in the funeral home on Saturday at 7:30 P.M.Military services will be accorded by Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.
