Raymond E. Burkholder, 59, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012 at his home.He was born February 8, 1953 in Mount Pleasant, PA, a son of Raymond H. and Phyllis M. (Forsythe) Burkholder of Greensburg, PA.Ray was a 1972 graduate of Hempfield Area Senior High School and had earned his journeyman machinist papers. He was employed at KH Controls in Blairsville as a quality control inspector.Ray was "Mr. Fix It" with everything and was always there to lend a hand to his family and friends no matter the task. He was a pet lover especially to his Chihuahua, Bandit. He loved his family, his home and enjoyed spending time with his nine grandchildren.Surviving are his loving wife of 25 years, Cheryl (Conrad) Burkholder whom he married August 15, 1987; a son, Adam Burkholder (Deborah) of Enid, OK; a stepson, Michael Riggle (Tammie Ridgway) of Blairsville; a stepdaughter, Kelly Riggle (Kurt Miller) of Blairsville; nine grandchildren, Baylee, Hunter, Jakob, Kira, Abe, Alexis, McClaren, Sean and Xenia; his parents, Raymond and Phyllis Burkholder of Greensburg; a brother, David Burkholder of Greensburg; two sisters, Barbara McMillen (late Jeffrey) of Greensburg and Carol Pittavino (Rodney) of North Huntingdon; mother-in-law, Marna Conrad of Blairsville; two sisters-in-law, Valerie Blystone (Wayne) of Ligonier and Kimberly McKinney (Ronald) of Blairsville; two brothers-in-law, Ronald Conrad (Rita) of Derry and Charles Conrad (Charity) of Blairsville; a stepbrother-in-law, Ron Walstrom of Loyalhanna; stepsister-in-law, Lori Walstrom of Latrobe and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by a brother, Garry and father-in-law, Ronald Conrad.Ray will be sadly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Clifford Hockensmith officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
