Stewart Albert Dick, 90, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at his home.The son of Alexander and Matilda (McCrea) Dick, he was born November 24, 1922 in Blacklick Twp., Indiana Co., PA.He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1940 and from the American Air Craft Institute in Chicago and worked for Martin Air Craft, Baltimore, MD. The plant was moved to Florida and he returned to Pennsylvania. He went to California State College where he studied Industrial Arts. He served in the Air Force during World War II and was injured in a plane crash. After the war, he worked in the purchasing department for Syntron Corp., Homer City later known as FMC. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh night school and majored in Business Law. When he finished school Bucky Carson choose Stewart to be Purchasing Manager following the death of Moris Bright. He held the position for many years, retiring in 1995.Stewart served on the Blairsville School Board for six years and was instrumental in building the new school where it is now located.He was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Golf Course for many years. He was an excellent golfer and traveled through out the different areas golfing in tournaments. He won a set of golf clubs as first prize in an Arnold Palmer event. Stewart and his wife, Florence, to whom he was married to for 39 years, spent 18 winters in Florida where he was a member of the Sarasota Village Green Golf Course.Stewart was a lifetime member of BPOE #406, Blairsville and a member of Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville.Surviving are his wife, Florence M. (Hlusko) Dick whom he married April 18, 1974; three children, Roseanne Mollo and husband, James of Blairsville; Robin Dick and wife, Evelyn of Mars and Lori Lynn Brendlinger, who he raised as his own, and husband, Christopher Konwerski of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother Mack Dick of Amarillo, TX and two nieces.He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marguerite George.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the funeral home with Elder John Skutski officiating.Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM will have services in the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 P.M.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.
