Mary Elizabeth (Spiaggi) Avalli, 94, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at her home.The daughter of Joseph and Filomena (Raglani) Spiaggi, she was born October 24, 1918 in Coral, PA.Mrs. Avalli was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral site.She was an avid bingo player, loved professional wrestling, working in her yard and working in her home.Mrs. Avalli and her husband owned and operated Avalli's Market in Black Lick for over 50 years.Surviving are her son, Edward J. Avalli (Sandy) of Blairsville; four grandchildren, Michelle Ciora (Rich); A. Stephen Francese; Terri Herchar (Tom) and Traci Clawson (Eric); nine great grandchildren, Natalie, Rick, Ryan, Alex, Chloe, Kourtney, Mark, Tyler and Noah and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward G. in 1981; a daughter, Florence Francese in 1970; three brothers, John, Aldo and Dan and a sister, Louise Timko.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut Street, Blairsville, PA. Parting prayers will be held in the funeral home at 10:15 A.M. Saturday followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site, with Fr. Ronald L. Cyktor, Jr. as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
