Frank Eugene Speedy, 82 of Clarksburg, PA passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 in the Communities at Indian Haven, Indiana, PA.The son of Irwin McKee and Mabel E. (Warner) Speedy, he was born October 29, 1930 in Conemaugh Twp., Indiana Co., PA.Mr. Speedy was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church for 70 years where he was a ruling elder, trustee, Sunday school teacher, superintendent, had served as the church's treasurer and was on the church cemetery board for many years.He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1948 and from California University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He began his teaching career in industrial arts at Elders Ridge High School and retired in 1990 with 30 years teaching at Apollo Ridge. He also ran the family beef cattle farm and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Nancy M. (Teeter) Speedy whom he married August 29, 1958; three sons, Thomas E. Speedy of Shippensburg; Dale A. Speedy (Debbie) of Indiana and Matthew L. Speedy (Valerie) of Clarksburg and a daughter, Sue A. Lyle (Jim) of Mt. Lebanon; five grandchildren, Heather, Kayla, Amber, Bradley and Jacob; a sister, Florence Mihalyov of Rochester, NY and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond and Ralph Speedy and a sister, Martha Burnsworth.The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Lewisville, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday with Rev. Elizabeth Arter officiating.Interment will be in the church cemetery.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.Memorial contributions may be made to the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church or to the Communities at Indian Haven in memory of Frank.
