Jay Blair Wagner, Sr., 81, of New Alexandria, PA, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at his home.The son of John R. and Agnes K. (Pebler) Wagner, he was born June 5, 1931 in Johnstown, PA.Mr. Wagner graduated from Armagh High School in 1949 and was a member of the Bethel United Presbyterian Church, Clyde, PA, and IBEW Local #1096.He was an avid hunter and fisherman and fished in tournaments in international waters off the coast of New York. He fished and hunted for trophy game.He was a veteran of the Army, having served during the Korean War.Prior to his retirement, he worked at Blairsville Westinghouse for 36 years.Surviving are his wife, Virginia D. (Randolph) Wagner whom he married December 24, 1986 and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jay B. Wagner Jr. in 2009; a brother, John Wade Wagner; a stepbrother, John and a stepsister, Caroline Chesney.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Saturday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Bethel United Presbyterian Church, Clyde, PA, with Rev. James Sunseri officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.
