Herman P. "Baby Kay" Chiesa, 92, of Brenizer, Pa passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA.A son of Pietro and Maria (Dellapina) Chiesa, he was born July 13, 1920 in Brenizer, PA.Mr. Chiesa was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, United Steel Workers of America and the Italian Mutual Aid Society.He was a veteran of the Army having served in France during WWII in the Invasion of Normandy.Mr. Chiesa worked in the Brenizer mines for 10 years and retired from Latrobe Steel in 1982 with 29 years of service.He enjoyed gardening and doing puzzles.Surviving are several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Raymond, Aldo, Joseph, John and Tillio and two sisters, Mary Vincze and Jean "Ida" Sabo.The family would like to thank the staff at Greensburg Care Center for their love and care.Friends will be received from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake service will be held on Monday at 7:30 P.M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407 will have veteran services in the funeral home on Monday at 7:45 P.M.
