Paul Shannon McFadden, 89, of Blairsville, PA (Black Lick Twp.) passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.A son of William R. and Grace (Farley) McFadden, he was born July 21, 1921 in Munderf, PA.Mr. McFadden was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church since 1956 and served as superintendent of Sunday school, chairman of the administrative board and trustee of the church. He was a member of the Blairsville Grange #2012, Community Card Club and a former member of the Blairsville High School Authority during the 1960's.He was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Navy.He was one of the original employees at Blairsville Westinghouse, founded McFadden Machine and Manufacturing and purchased Sydney Machine Company in Australia. He retired after 25 years and went to work as personnel manager of Blairsville Machine.Surviving are his wife, Goldie R. (Gamble) McFadden whom he married November 25, 1944; three daughters, Barbara Michna and her husband, Roger of Pleasant Hills; Judith Ann Swasy and her husband, Charles of Blairsville and Dr. Debra R. Dunlap and her husband, David of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Mark Michna, Monica Michna and Brad Swasy; a great-grandchild, Korey Michna and a brother Thomas Phillip McFadden and his wife, Virginia of Ridgeway.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 P.M. Saturday and from 4 to 6 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday at the Hopewell United Methodist Church, Black Lick Twp. with Rev. Brett M. Dinger officiating.Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.Memorial contributions may be made to the Westmoreland County Blind Association, 911 S.
