John D. Perfetti, 79, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 in Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, PA.A son of Menotti and Giulia (Pirocchi) Perfetti, he was born November 29, 1930 in Indiana, PA.Mr. Perfetti was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, where he served as a Eucharistic minister.He was the founder Perfetti Trucking, Burrell Twp., in 1952 and phased out of full-time work in 2006 to take care of his wife, Phyllis. He was a tireless worker and dynamic leader at the trucking company and would stop in daily to see how things were going at the terminal. His passion was checking on the maintenance and the fleet.He enjoyed shooting at various gun clubs with his family and friends.Surviving are eight children, John A. Perfetti and his wife, Valerie of Lucernemines; Joseph P. Perfetti of Blairsville; Julie A. Tegethoff and her husband, Eric of Indiana; Christina M. Wiggins and her husband, Barri of Shelocta; Michael A. Perfetti and his wife, Paula of Indiana; Sylvia C. Steeves and her husband, Clifford of Blairsville; Patricia S. Carnahan and her husband, Mark of Avondale, AZ and Andrea J. Crusan and her husband, Michael of Greensburg; 17 grandchildren, John David Perfetti II and his wife, Marcie; Melanie S. Popson and her husband, Michael; Luke Perfetti; Jillian Perfetti; William Tegethoff and his wife, Mary Kathryne; James Tegethoff; David Tegethoff; Erica Tegethoff; Stephen Tegethoff; Jennifer Jones and her husband, Jason; Alicia Ryan and her husband, Michael; Celeste Steeves; Stephanie Steeves; Chandler Crusan; Wyatt, Crusan; Anthony Crusan and Giulia Crusan; seven great grandchildren, Andrew Perfetti; Ashton Perfetti; Ava Perfetti; Gavin Steeves; Brennan Ryan; Neva Polito, Jaelynn Tegethoff; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was a beloved husband of 58 years and devoted caregiver to his wife, Phyllis Jean (Galentine) Perfetti who passed away on May 5, 2010. He was, also, preceded in death by his parents; three grandchildren, Melissa Perfetti, Angelina Crusan and Landon Crusan; a brother, Massimo Perfetti and two sisters, Dena C. (Perfetti) Rich and Jean Ann (Perfetti) Bonarrigo. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake service will be held at 8:30 P.M. Sunday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday in SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
