Henry Shields Williams, Sr., 83, of Blairsville, PA (Black Lick Twp.) passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at his home.A son of Theodore F. and Mary E. (Shields) Williams, he was born June 17, 1927 in Black Lick Twp., PA.Mr. Williams was a member of the Pennsylvania Draft Horse and Mule Society, National Percheron Horse Association and the Fleet Reserve Association.He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1945 and served in the US Navy as a master chief for 33 years from 1945 to 1978.He was a Percheron horse breeder.Mr. Williams is survived by a son Henry S. Williams, Jr., of Sausalito, CA; four grandchildren, Patrick Williams, Cameron, Benjamin and Elisha Willeng; three brothers, Ted J. Williams and his wife, Isabelle of West Lafayette, IN; William F. Williams of Indiana and Samuel K. Williams and his wife, Joanne of Blairsville; two sisters, Liala Grabowsky of Arlington, VA and Karen Kunkle and her husband, John of Creekside.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon (Morrison) Williams on July 27, 2004 and a son, James.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the Bethel Presbyterian Church, 1470 Bethel Church Road, Indiana, PA with Rev. Robert W. Goossen officiating.Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Center Twp., PAMilitary services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
