Dale Vernon Hebenthal, 83, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Country Living Personal Care Home, Blairsville, PA.A son of Harry and Luella (Dillinger) Hebenthal, he was born April 15, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant, PA.Mr. Hebenthal was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville. He served for many years and was past president of the Blairsville School board.He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1945 and Vale Tech, Blairsville.He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army.Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was employed by Standard Steel, Latrobe, for 38 years.He enjoyed music and lived an active life farming and gardening.His woodshop was his pride and joy and spent many years making woodcrafts for family and friends.Surviving are eight sons, James R. Hebenthal of Blairsville; Donald D. Hebenthal and his wife, Donna of Homer City; Larry A. Hebenthal of Johnstown; William L. Hebenthal and his wife, Lori of Blairsville; David L. Hebenthal and his wife, Karen of Brush Valley; John W. Hebenthal and his wife, Kathi of Derry; Kirk V. Hebenthal of Jeannette and Dennis E. Hebenthal and his wife, Michelle of Blairsville; six daughters, Bonnie L. Confer and her husband, Nelson of Connellsville; Diane M. Shirley and her husband, Bruce of Youngstown; Brenda M. Fairchild and her husband, Reuben of Accident, MD; Marlene J. Kerley and her friend, Ray Highberger of Blairsville; Darlene J. Cowan and her husband, Timothy of Blairsville and Rebecca J. Snyder and her husband, Robert of Penn Run. He was, also, blessed with 37 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sara Marie (Griffith) Hebenthal on October 24, 1982; two sons, Ronald D. on December 16, 1980 and infant son, Daniel E.; a brother, Harry and three sisters, Margaret Tomer, Dorothea Youngman and Judy Larezzo.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Saturday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville, with Rev. John McMannus officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
