Alex O. Laughlin, 74, of New Alexandria, PA passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital, Latrobe, PA.The son of Alex E. and Mary (Sheffler) Laughlin, he was born August 21, 1936 in New Alexandria, PA.Alex was a member of the Community United Presbyterian Church, New Alexandria, for 74 years, having served as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, deacon and elder. He was, also, a member of Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville, Jaffa Shrine, Pittsburgh, and a life member of the National Rifle Association.He graduated from Derry High School in 1955 and worked for Texas Eastern Transmission Corp., Greensburg, retiring in 1995 with 39 years of service. Alex is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna L. (Fleming) Laughlin, whom he married August 7, 1958; a son, Alex P. Laughlin of New Alexandria; two daughters, Lisa K. Resslar and her husband, Adam of New Alexandria and Lynn M. Ferguson of Indiana; six grandchildren, Amanda Stevenson, Christy and Jessica Laughlin, Katie and Shane Ferguson and Jennifer Resslar; two great grandsons, Wyatt and Dominick Stevenson; a sister, Patricia Gillott and her husband, Ken of Connellsville and a brother, James Laughlin and his wife, Andrea of New Alexandria and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Community United Presbyterian Church, New Alexandria, PA with Rev. Clifford E. Buell and Rev. R. Bruce Maxwell co-officiating.Interment will be in Union Cemetery, New Alexandria, PA.Masonic services will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 P.M.Memorial contributions may be made to the Community United Presbyterian Church, P.O.
