Thelma Elsie (Mardis) Pavelchick, 76, of New Derry, PA, formerly of Josephine, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, PA.A daughter of Foster J. and Viola A. (Sears) Mardis, she was born November 28, 1933 in Bairdstown.Mrs. Pavelchick was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel of Hope, Black Lick.She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Pavelchick, whom she married January 19, 1957; two daughters, Hope Reid and her husband, Michael of Tunnelton and Millissa Kozenko and her husband, Michael of Latrobe; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Pavelchick, Christopher Pavelchick, John Pavelchick, Josh Reid, Shane Reid, Ashley Reid, Michael Kozenko and Heidi Reid; six great grandchildren; a brother, David Mardis and his wife, Shirley of Indiana and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John in 1982; four brothers, Bill, Elmer, Jim and Paul Mardis and four sisters, Evelyn Troup, Goldie Mancini, Vivian Busani and Reba Newhouse.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Stephen K. Miller officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
