Donald Eugene "Buster" Ankney, 52, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA.A son of Donald M. and Loretta G. (Palmer) Ankney, he was born February 8, 1958 in Latrobe, PA.Don was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, where he served on council and the property committee.He loved his 1932 Ford three-window coup, enjoyed going to car shows and hunting.He attended every sporting event of his daughters and was a devoted father and son, cherished brother and faithful friend to many. He enjoyed being with his family and friends.Don was employed by Blairsville Westinghouse Electric Company for 34 years.He was the loving husband of 25 years to Debbie J. (Pandullo) Ankney, whom he married June 1, 1985; two daughters, Lindsay J. Ankney and her fiance, Joshua Carvalho of Hudson, MA and Lauren J. Ankney at home; two brothers, his best friend, Kenneth L. Ankney and his wife Cindy of Blairsville and Richard A. Ankney of Derry and a sister, Beverly J. Warren and her husband, Richard of New Alexandria; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Betty Pandullo of Blairsville, who loved him like a son and a very special friend, Myron Barger of Blairsville.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, PA with Rev. Beverly J. Banyay officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Memorial contributions may be made to the Hebron Lutheran Church, 125 N. Liberty St., Blairsville, PA.He fought a brave battle against cancer but left us for a better place. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. We should all wish to be as heroic and selfless as he and to live our lives helping one another. We were all blessed to have Don in our lives. We know he is watching over us.
