F. William Lintner, 88, of Blairsville passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at his home.A son of John Young and Idabell (Marshall) Lintner, he was born November 2, 1921 in Blairsville, PA.Mr. Lintner was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Blairsville, where he was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Also a member of Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville, and was a Scout Master of Troop Eight for 12 years.He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy.He worked for North American Coal, Pan Am and worked 28 years for Westinghouse.Surviving are a niece, Beth Ann Lear and her husband, Wesley of Blairsville; three nephews, Thomas S. George and his wife, Debrah of Blairsville; William E. "Wig" George and his wife, Cathy of Marietta, OH and David L. George and his wife, Kimberly of Rock Hill, SC and a sister-in-law, Edith George of Blairsville.He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Vaughn M. (Williams) Lintner on September 17, 1998.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday with Rev. Terry Shaffer officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.
