Harry Elmer Ewing, 91, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.The son of Roy Maxwell and Laura A. (Howard) Ewing, he was born March 24, 1919 in Conemaugh Twp., PA.Mr. Ewing was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church for 80 years where he served as a trustee and elder; Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM Coudersport Consistory; Blairsville Grange #2012 and BPOE #406, Blairsville.He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army and worked 64 years as a carpenter for Union Local #2274, retiring in 1981.Surviving are four children; three sons, Harry L. Ewing and his wife, Sharon of Blairsville; Ronald R. Ewing and his wife, Janice of Valencia and Donald B. Ewing and his wife, Lori of Blairsville and a daughter, Pamela Paouncic and her husband, Michael of Blairsville; eight grandchildren, Melissa Jones, Brett Ewing, John Ewing, Ben Ewing, Jill Paouncic, Valyn Paouncic, Craig Paouncic and Emilie Ewing; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Dot Minarcik of Blairsville and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys (Duncan) Ewing in 2001; twin brother, Howard D. Ewing and a sister, Mabel Fleming Wilson.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday with Rev. Tom R. Jones officiating.Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Lewisville.Masonic services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 P.M.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.
