David Sylvester Kellerman, 61, of New Alexandria, PA passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA.A son of Joseph L. and Sarah E. (Short) Kellerman, he was born February 25, 1949 in Gray Station, PA.Mr. Kellerman graduated from Derry Area High School in 1967 and from Westmoreland County Community College in 1997 with an associate degree in culinary arts. He worked as a baker.He was a veteran of the Army serving during the Vietnam War.He enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR.Surviving are his wife, Sandra L. (Gower) Kellerman whom he married April 15, 1972; two daughters, Melissa Strobel and her husband, Erik of Youngwood and Raina Kellerman of New Alexandria; three grandchildren, Aislinn, Hannah and Seth Strobel; two brothers, Joseph Kellerman and his wife, Barbara of Blairsville and James Kellerman and his wife, Yvonne of Gray Station; three sisters, June Ehman and her husband, Ted of Gray Station; Sarah Curtis and her husband, Oscar of East Palestine, OH and Donna Patz and her husband, Robert of Gray Station; mother-in-law, Betty Gower of New Alexandria; two brothers-in-law, Dale Gower and his wife, Idamae of Clinton and Walter Patz of Gray Station; a sister-in-law, Terri Gower of New Alexandria and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joan Patz in 2007 and his father-in-law, Lionel Gower in 2009.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. James R. Henigin officiating.Interment will be private.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.
