Ruth Alice (Horner) Howard, 71, of Sinnamahoning, PA formerly of Strangford pass away on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA.A daughter of James Horner and Pearl (Baird) Horner Gary, she was born January 23, 1939 in Saltsburg, PA.Mrs. Howard was a member of the Sinnamahoning United Methodist Church and the Caladonia Quilting Club.She graduated from Saltsburg High School in 1957.She loved spending time with her family, riding motorcycles and traveling with her husband to all 50 states.She enjoyed working and spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens.Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Robert E. Howard whom she married June 8, 1957; a son, Jimmy Howard and his wife, Denise of Melbourne Beach FL and a daughter, Sherry Howard and her husband, Mark of Blairsville; five grandchildren, Jason Howard, Jeremy Howard, Nicole Hamill, Josh Howard and Justin Howard; three great grandchildren, Nolan Howard, Lauren Hamill and Kaylee Hamill; a brother, Bill Horner and his wife, Donna of Bolivar; five sisters, Bertha Cline of Iselin, Ann Cribbs of Saltsburg, Esther McConnell and her husband, James of Blairsville, Martha Akins of Vandergrift and Judy Emery and her husband, Rick of Blairsville and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward Horner.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Prewitt Duncan officiating.Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Lewisville, PA.
