Marilyn Louise Keil, 80, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.A daughter of Clifford J. and Martha E. (Dilts) Keil, she was born April 11, 1930 in Blairsville, PA.Marilyn was a very active member of the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, where she was a ruling elder and taught the Men's Fellowship Sunday school class. She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau sorority, a board member of the Historical Society of the Blairsville area and a member of the former Blairsville Professional Women.She graduated from Blairsville High School in 1948 and from Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, in 1951. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing education from the University of Pittsburgh, specializing in psychiatric nursing. Marilyn had worked as a nurse at Torrance State Hospital. She worked as a psychiatric nursing instructor at Cleveland Metropolitan Hospital School of Nursing, Cleveland, OH and was director of nursing education at South Florida State Hospital, Hollywood, FL. She retired in 1994 from the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA, with 23 years as a nursing instructor in the education department. She is survived by several cousins and many close friends.She was preceded in death by her father in 1972, her mother in 1982 and a brother Robert H. Keil in 1937.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, PA with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
