Donald G. Mitchell, 71, of Black Lick, PA passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at his home.A son of Clarence G. and Iva (Henry) Mitchell, he was born January 24, 1939 in Brush Valley, PA.Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Free Methodist Church, Black Lick. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Blairsville Machine Products for 25 years.He enjoyed fishing and taking care of his and other people's yards.He loved being around his family and was a proud grandfather and uncle.Surviving are his wife, Linda G. (Stipcak) Mitchell whom he married June 28, 1985.; three children, Terry Murphy of Plainfield, IN; Jamie Murphy and his wife, Tonya of Plainfield, IN and Shawn Murphy of Kingsport, TN; two stepsons, Terry Shean of Indiana and Roby Shean of Blairsville; four grandchildren; a brother, Roger Mitchell and his wife, Sharon of Black Lick; four sisters, Iva Joanne Clark and her husband, Jon of Niles, OH; Kathleen Goodman and her husband, Tom of Latrobe; Helen Louise Mitchell of Brush Valley and Melissa Mayall of Johnstown; three stepbrothers, Orville W. Stiles of Black Lick; Wayne Stiles of Black Lick and Melvin Steffey of Homer City and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Jerry Mitchell in 2007 and a stepson, Brian Shean.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Fred W. Craig officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
