CHRISTIAN OBITUARYEva May (Shannon) Nicholson (98)EVA MAY NICHOLSON, ninety-eight (98) years young, a faithful witness of the love and kindness of God, and having completed her life's race here on earth, left her temporary home on earth, to take up permanent residence with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, March 14, 2010 She resided on Bairdstown Road, Blairsville for seventy-two years. On Thanksgiving Day 2009, she moved to Derry to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Ray & Liz Nicholson. The youngest of seven children to Bryan Kennedy and Ella Sophia (Dibler) Shannon, Eva was born March 7, 1912, in Ruffsdale, East Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, PA. After attending Indiana Normal School, she taught second grade at Youkon and various grades at Cresson before becoming a full-time mother and homemaker.She and her husband of more than 49 years, Allen F. Nicholson, married December 5, 1938, in Derry, PA She is survived by four children, Eileen Yellets and husband Paul, Gray Station; Darlene Culp and husband William, Blairsville; Ray Nicholson and wife Liz, Derry; Marlene Couch and husband Robert, Indiana.At the time of her death, Eva was the oldest attending member of the Blairsville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Her love of God and love of family were the most important two things in life. Eva's consistent Christian life touched the lives of family, relatives and friends with whom she came in contact.In addition to her children, Eva is survived by the following family members: 11 grandchildren - Robin Gish and husband Martin, Elizabethtown PA; Jeffrey Yellets and wife Jennifer, Lexington Park MD; Dawn Demangone and husband Martin, Beverly Hills, FL; Darla Klingensmith & husband Robert, Homer City PA; Kevin Culp and wife June, Beavercreek OH; Mark Nicholson & wife Susan, Blairsville PA, Michele Knight and husband Gregg, Mt Vernon, OH; Melissa Norris, Derry PA; Corey Boyer and wife Paige, Lexington Park, MD; Corinne Miller and husband Shawn, Indiana PA; Deb Kindlin and husband Ed, Blairsville PA - 34 great-grandchildren: Joshua, Shannon Baker and husband Andrew, Nathan, Aaron, Jacob, Caleb, Bethany, Brian, Shayna Demangone & fianc Tom Sexton, Laura, Jessica, Marty Demangone & wife Karen, Philip, Melissa Cozad & husband Chris, Bobby, Billy, Christi, Sarah, Hannah, Chad, Dylan, Emily, Tyler, Johnathan, Hayden, Meagan, Ethan, Esme, Eva, Grant, Zachary, Christy, Jimmy and Kelly Pujia and husband Michael - 4 great-great grandchildren: Hanna, Aundrea, Edmund, and Samuel. She was preceded in death on December 31, 1936, by her first husband Harold Richard Fairbanks and her late husband Allen Frank Nicholson on January 14, 1988; her parents, Bryan and Ella; three brothers, Howard, Raymond, Herman and three sisters, Edna Aitken, Laura Vandyke, and Edith Mologne.The family would like to thank all the caregivers for their loving help, which include Judy, Mattie, Amy, Rose, Jennifer and Joan. A special thanks is also given to Asera Care and Area of the Aging.Family members and her many loving friends, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 North Walnut St., Blairsville, PA 15717. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 18, 11:00 am at the Blairsville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Pastor John McMannus will officiate and interment will be at the Blairsville Cemetery, Indiana County, PA.
