Mary Elizabeth (Jenkins) Powell, 86, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, February 22, 2010 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, PA.A daughter of James R. and Bessie Mae (Kifer) Jenkins, she was born May 7, 1923 in Coral, PA.Mrs. Powell was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, and was a volunteer at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe.She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her dog, Missy.She was employed by Torrance State Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1985.Surviving are two daughters-in-law, Maggie Powell of Coral and Nancy Powell of Blairsville; three grandchildren, Amy Hunn, Bryan Powell and Christopher Powell; four great grandchildren, Emily, Nicholas and Alexander Hunn and Mason Powell.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Powell in 1993; two sons, David Powell in 2000 and Jim Powell in 2002; two brothers, Harry Jenkins and Charles Jenkins.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut Street, Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday in the funeral home with Rev. Beverly J.
