Carolyn (Swasy) Dunlap, 88, of Blairsville, PA passed away at her home on Saturday, February 20, 2010.A daughter of Charles O. and Anna Mary (Clawson) Swasy, she was born February 10, 1922 in Black Lick Township, Indiana County, PA.Mrs. Dunlap was a graduate of Blairsville High School, member of the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, and a retired employee of Brody's Department Store in Indiana. She was owner of the Dunlap Dairy Farm in Derry Township, where she resided for 68 years. For more than 50 years she enjoyed playing cards with friends in their 500 Card Club.A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed and affectionately remembered by her family.Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Ann Davies and her husband, Larry of Hollidaysburg and Norma Rae Dunlap of Blairsville; two grandsons, Ed Davies and his wife, Patty of Pittsburgh and Jim Davies and his wife, Elizabeth of Glen Mills; three great grandsons, A.J., Lawrence and Daniel; two sisters, Ruth Carlson of Blairsville and Virginia Campbell and her husband, Don of Northumberland; two brothers, Charles Swasy Jr. of Homer City and Clark Swasy and his wife, Margaret of Indiana; sister-in-law, Maribel Swasy of Blairsville and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman R. Dunlap in 1983; a sister, Mary Lois Yelenic and a brother, John Swasy.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, %Jaffa Shrine, 2200 Broad Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601-1936.
