Richard B. Erb, 87, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Friday, January 15, 2010 at his home.The son of Charles R. and Anna J. (Ross) Erb, he was born January 26, 1922 in Blairsville, PA.Mr. Erb worked 37 years as a coal miner, retiring in 1985 from Tunnelton Mining Company and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Local #1378.He loved hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren.Surviving are his wife, Eugenia M. "Gene" (Howard) Erb to whom he married February 11, 1944; five children, a son, Charles R. Erb and his wife, Sandra L. of New Alexandria; four daughters, Donna J. Head and her husband, Leslie of South Euclid, OH; Linda L. Elliott and her husband, Robert of St. Petersburg, FL; Peggy L. Ehman and her husband, Ted of Blairsville and Penny M. Horrell and her husband, Steve of Blairsville; nine grandchildren, Randall Head, Pamela Lewis, Charles "Chuck" Hill, Troy T. Dunmire, Diane Tetkoskie, Harold "Jeff" Ehman, Megan Ehman, Abram Horrell and Amy Horrell and 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Robert, Earl, Leonard, Donald and Edward Erb and three sisters, Louise Harkins, Helen Miller and Ethel Bost. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Monday in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
