Gertrude Elizabeth (Mitchell) Abel, 93, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2009 in Blairsville, PAThe daughter of A. Clair and Ella G. (Bowers) Mitchell, she was born April 22, 1916 in Pittsburgh, PA.Mrs. Abel and her husband, Edward Abel, owned Abel's Cabinet Company during the 70's, 80's and 90's in Homer City/Black Lick/ Blairsville area.She went to bible study at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville.Surviving are a daughter, Donna Beck and her husband, Dennis of Leechburg; two grandchildren, Edward H. Beck and his wife, Renee' and Robert S. Beck and his wife, Lynn; four great grandchildren, Jonathon E. Beck and his wife, Virginia; Michael H. Beck, Richard L. Beck and Cody E. Beck; a sister, Isabell Vatter and her husband, Chuck of Blairsville and a brother, Herbert C. Mitchell and his wife, Ann of Monroeville.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward in 1995 and two brothers, Robert S. Mitchell and Walter J. Mitchell.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. John McMannus officiating.Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Park, Verona, PA.
