Leila (Compton) White, 95, formerly of Blairsville and Floral City, FL passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Kelly Personal Care, Greensburg, PA.The daughter of Jackson A. and Nannie (Mabon) Compton, she was born December 1, 1913 in Clarksburg, PA.Mrs. White was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Inverness, FL and the PSEA.She graduated from Indiana Normal School (IUP) in 1934 and taught elementary and secondary education for 40 years. She taught in Clarksburg, Burrell Twp. and Clymer School-Penn Run schools in Pennsylvania and taught at Belair, Largo Central and Oakhust schools in Florida.Surviving are a sister, Dorothy (Compton) Gardner of Valencia and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ralph White in 1999; three brothers, Blaine L., Carl L. and Wilbur W. Compton and two sisters, Nola Linger and Goldie Lyons.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 P.M. Saturday in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, PA.
