David W. Baker, Jr., 78, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Mountain View Specialty Care, Greensburg, PA.The son of David W. Baker, Sr. and C. Kathryn (Nuner) Baker, he was born January 5, 1931 in Blairsville, PA.He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1948 and was a veteran of the US Navy.Mr. Baker worked for Westinghouse Specialty Metals for 39 years, retiring in 1994.Surviving are three sons, Daniel B. Baker of Blairsville; David R. Baker of Blairsville; Darrin J. Baker and his wife, Tricia of Blairsville; and a daughter, Darcy Borbonus and her husband, David of Blairsville; nine grandchildren, Shelby Stumpf, Greg Gruda, Justin Borbonus, Dana Baker, Matthew Baker, Alex Baker, Andrew Baker, Austin Baker and David Baker; one great grandson; a brother, Joseph "Phip" Baker and his wife, Mary of Derry; three sisters, Myrtle McLaughlin of Clarksburg; Jane Curnow and her husband, Frank of Blairsville and Flora Fordyce and her husband, Don of Latrobe.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley Ann (Jasper) Baker on June 23, 2008 and a sister, Annabelle Lukcik in 1999.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A Prayer Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Fr. Chester J. Raimer officiating.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
