Janet Rae (Carney) Shetler, 64, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the Latrobe Health and Rehabilitation Center, Latrobe, PA.The daughter of Lloyd A. and Margaret Alta (Wilson) Carney, she was born August 22, 1945 in Latrobe, PA.Mrs. Shetler attended the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville. She was very active in the Chestnut Hills Senior Center where she started a hospice program. She loved sewing and painting and enjoyed camping.Mrs. Shetler worked as an office manager for the Association of Retarded Citizens for 17 years.Surviving are her husband, Denver E. Shetler to whom she married November 23, 1968; a brother Lloyd "Herk" Carney and his wife, Mona of Newark, Delaware and a sister, Joyce Adams and her husband, Donald of Harrisburg, PA.She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jason D. Shetler on April 19, 1990.The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 P.M. Saturday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will at 9:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. John McMannus officiating.Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
