Anna Ellen (McLaughlin) Dunlap, 88, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Keeper of the Flame, Blairsville, PA.The daughter of John and Susan (Waddle) McLaughlin, she was born June 10, 1921 in Conemaugh Twp., PA.Mrs. Dunlap was a member of the Tunnelton Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and deacon. She was also a member of the Westmoreland County Teachers Association, PA Association of Retirees, Blairsville Chapter #166 Order of the Eastern Star and the AARP.She graduated from Saltsburg High School in 1938 and from Indiana State Teachers College (IUP). She taught for 39 years in the Hempfield Area School District, retiring in 1982.Surviving are her husband, W.R. Dunlap to whom she married June 30, 1949; sister, Mary A. Ewing of Blairsville; special niece, Susan Leonard and her husband, Jerome of Blairsville; several nephews and sister-in-law, Myrtle McLaughlin of Blairsville.She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joe McLaughlin and a brother-in-law, Howard Ewing. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home.Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg, PA.
