Steve Kwisnek, 89, of Clarksburg, PA passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, PA.The son of Nicholas and Julia (Hodovanic) Kwisnek, he was born October 7, 1919 in Burrell Twp., PA.He was a US Army veteran of World War II and worked for R&P Coal Company as a heavy equipment operator for 48 years, retiring in 1986. Mr. Kwisnek was owner of Scenic View Farm, Clarksburg, for 50 years and was a member of the American Southdown Breeders Association.After his retirement, he was active in farming in Clarksburg. He won numerous awards with Southdown sheep on the county, state and national level.Surviving are his wife, Ruby L. (Sharp) Kwisnek to whom he married November 30, 1943; three sons, James Kwisnek and his wife, Penny of Clarksburg; Ronald Kwisnek and his wife, Lynn of Clarksburg and Gary Kwisnek of Clarksburg; two daughters, Lois Zagrodnichek and her husband, William of Clarksburg and Kathy Wescott and her husband Roy of Manteo, NC; 10 grandchildren, Eugene Kwisnek and his wife, Lindsey; Becky Reynolds and her husband, Dennis; Dale Kwisnek and his wife, Michela; Stephanie Kwisnek; Chris Zagrodnichek and his wife, Karen; Patrick Zagrodnichek and his wife, Anita; Lori Shroyer and her husband, John; Lisa LaMantia and her husband, Bill; Wendy Gyllenhoff and her husband, Todd and Jesse Joe Roland; 12 great grandchildren, Steven, Tyler and Levi Kwisnek; Emily Reynolds; Austin Kwisnek; Owen and Hailey Zagrodnichek; Ava, Jada and Anara Shroyer; Emma and Taylor Gyllenhoff; a sister, Anne Seeger of Pittsburgh and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Eugene Kwisnek; two grandsons, Chad and Ronald Kwisnek Jr.; a son-in-law, Jesse Roland; five brothers, Charles, Michael, Pete, John and Frank Kwisnek and two infant brothers, George and George.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Robert McCrumb and Rev. Fr. James Seeger co-officiating.Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Lewisville, PA.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion Post #0407.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Southdown Breeders Association, Youth Scholarship Fund, 100 Cornerstone Road, Fredonia, TX 76842.
