Mary Elizabeth (McCurdy) Miller, 89, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Excela Health Westmoreland at Jeannette Hospice Center, Jeannette, PA.The daughter of George and Mary M. (Mitchell) McCurdy, she was born November 23, 1919 in Blairsville, PA.Mrs. Miller was a member of the Women's Ministry of the Assembly of God and the AARP.She graduated from Blairsville High School in 1938.Surviving are two sons, William A. Miller and his wife, Hazel of Blairsville and Robert C. Miller and his wife, Bernie, her caregivers, of Latrobe and a daughter, Mary Gahagan and her husband, Thomas of Naples, FL; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, George McCurdy of Derry and John McCurdy of LasVegas, NV; two sisters, Elsie McDonald of Derry and Patricia Albright of Youngstown, OH.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Kenneth Miller in 1998; four sisters, Rebecca Blystone, Irma Miller, Rose Oaks and Dorothy Dendler.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Saturday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Charles S. Kitner officiating.Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
