Vernon E. Hill, 87, of Blairsville, PA (Black Lick Twp.) passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, PA.The son of Lester E. and Susan E. (Fowler) Hill, he was born July 20, 1921 in Altoona, PA.Mr. Hill was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and was a former member of the PA Farmer's Association, the Tri-county Wagon Train and the Bend of River Wagon Train.He lived his entire life in the Black Lick Twp. and was a self-employed dairy farmer for 40 years, retiring in 2000.Surviving are a son, James A. Hill and wife, Charlotte of Blairsville; a daughter, Shirley J. Stewart of Blairsville; three grandchildren, Ronda Deemer and husband, Todd, Ronald L. Stewart Jr. and Rodney J. Stewart; four great grandchildren and a sister, Margretta Friz of Paris, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna (Rager) Hill in 1959; a brother, James E. Hill in 1960; sister, Charlotte Hill and a son-in-law, Ronald Stewart in 2009.The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Horace Derr officiating.Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
