Verna M. (Parks) Hornberger, 80, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Friday, May 29, 2009 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA.The daughter of William Walton and Marie (Huber) Parks, she was born January 29, 1929 in Bellwood, PA.Mrs. Hornberger was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville.She lived most of her life in the Blairsville area and loved to play bingo.Surviving are a son, Thomas Hornberger and Sondra McCutheon of Blairsville; three daughters, Susan Bartosh and husband, John of Blairsville; Rose Andersen and husband, Ronald of Eagan, MN and Deborah Gurgon of Blairsville; six grandchildren, Deborah Horner, Richard McGinnis, William Bartosh, Tim McGinnis, Ashley Rae Gurgon and Jimmi Ray Warnick; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Decker and Naomi Filer, both of Altoona.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Hornberger in 2002; a son, Richard Hornberger in 2009; two brothers, Robert and William; three sisters, Betty McCaulley, Madaline Harpster and Alma Lauver.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Monday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Beverly J. Banyay officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.
